  • By Train:
    • Take a direct Northern train from Carlisle Railway Station to Workington Railway Station. The journey takes around 49 minutes from Carlisle, and trains run hourly.
    • From Workington, you will need to take a local bus (X4 or X5) or a taxi to reach the Rivendell site.
  • By Bus:
    • Catch a Stagecoach bus (Service 600 - Carlisle / Whitehaven, stopping at Thursby, Wigton, Bothel, Cockermouth) to Workington Main Street.
    • From Workington Main Street, transfer to a local service X4 or X5 that stops near Derwent Meadows in Stainburn, or Greengarth in Great Clifton, both of which are a 1km walk to the Rivendell site.

Private Transport Options

By Bicycle

  • National cycle Network Route 72 (NCN72) - known as ‘Hadrians Cycleway’ - runs along the West Cumbrian Coast, through Whitehaven, Workington, Maryport and Silloth and ultimately to Carlisle and South Shields (Tyne & Wear).
  • Along the Cumbrian Coast NCN72 is primarily a dedicated cycle path which passes through Siddick Ponds to the north and Workington Town Centre to the south.
  • Leaving NCN72 at Navvies Bridge and heading east, a route through Curwen Park will take you to Stainburn Road where a 1.8km ‘on road’ ride will bring you to the Rivendell site.

By Car

  • Cumbria Nature Festival would encourage attendees to use public transport where possible. If you are driving to the site, carpooling options such as Liftshare (https://liftshare.com/uk) exist.

Camping

We don't have space on the Festival site to give vans camping pitches, with room for awnings, etc. Most of the smaller vans will be on grass with limited space around them. Large vans will be on hardstanding, most of which will be in one of the 2 main parking areas.

There are numerous water points and portaloos onsite and two disabled toilet units. There are also some compost toilets which are perfectly usable. Please bring your own toilet paper!.
